Cookie and Device Storage Notice
This notice explains GradPlan's current use of cookies, local or session storage and browser caches.
1. Current technologies and purposes
| Technology | Purpose | Typical duration or control |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase authentication browser storage | Keeps you signed in and supports account security. | Persists according to the sign-in state until sign-out, account deletion, expiry or browser clearing. |
Google reCAPTCHA security storage, which may include _GRECAPTCHA | Helps prevent automated abuse on protected sign-in or submission journeys. | Controlled by Google and the browser; loaded only on the relevant protected journey. |
| Local storage for theme, interface preferences and limited draft state | Remembers choices and can preserve work on the same device. | May remain until you clear it, the feature clears it or browser data is removed. Avoid shared devices for confidential drafts. |
| Session storage for short-lived workflow identifiers and results | Maintains the current practice, interview or navigation session. | Normally removed when the browser tab/session ends, subject to browser behaviour. |
| Service-worker and browser caches | Loads application code and static assets reliably and efficiently. | Updated or removed as application versions and browser cache rules change. |
2. Strictly necessary use
GradPlan uses authentication, security, transaction and core application storage where it is needed to provide a feature you request or protect the service. Blocking it can prevent sign-in, security checks, saved work or checkout from functioning.
3. Analytics and advertising
GradPlan does not currently use general audience-analytics or advertising cookies. If non-essential analytics, advertising or comparable storage is introduced, it must remain disabled until GradPlan gives clear information and obtains any legally required choice.
4. Your controls
You can use browser settings to inspect or clear site data. Signing out clears the active authentication session but some preferences or drafts may remain on that device. Clearing all GradPlan site data can remove unsaved local work and require you to sign in again.
5. Privacy and contact
For the personal-data purposes, recipients, retention and rights connected with these technologies, read the Privacy Notice. Questions or requests can be sent to hello@gradplan.uk.
GradPlan Autofill extension storage
The controlled Chrome beta uses Chrome session storage for a short-lived connection credential and account email. The website also retains the public connection challenge in session storage for up to ten minutes during sign-in. It does not set advertising cookies, read the employer's cookies or persist a complete Autofill Profile. Session storage clears when Chrome restarts or you disconnect. Optional usage counts are off by default. See the Autofill privacy explanation.
